Yesterday and today were a blur of vet visits and rushing around. I felt like a chicken running around with the head chopped off. But nothing beats the sufferings the poor cats are facing. After the last shelter visit, we sent 3 of Aunty’s farm cats to vet, 2 passed away yesterday.
Here are their stories:
The white one with the very bad gum is tested FIV and FELV positive. FELV is leukemia and it’s very contagious and lethal. Anyway, she passed away yesterday morning (7 July, around 4 am). She didn’t wake up from anesthesia cos her body is weak.
The ginger one passed away on 7 July, around 11:50 pm. He’s just too weak and has stopped eating for a while. Aunty M is so sad that they are both gone.

Today, the Taxi Uncle who previous rescued Wawa, sent another cat to the vet, a hit and run case. The injury is all internal. The diaphragm broke and the intestines and stomach has spilled into the lung and heart area. She appeared to be having breathing difficulty. We wanted to give her a chance, cos if she don’t undergo surgery, she’s going to die a slow painful death. After a complicated open chest surgery, she couldn’t make it. She was resuscitated 4 – 5 times but didn’t sustain. At least the docs gave their best shot. Kudos to them.
One more update, not a death (Thank God) but it’s Aunty M’s Tumor cat. The tumor has erupted, the final straw of nose cancer. But the cat still seems alert, active, eating and wants affection. We don’t have the heart to put him down yet. Either he has a high tolerance for pain or he’s just not feeling it. Sent him to the vet today to see if they can give him a steriod jab or something to control the situation.
