Our Saturday Visits to 2 Shelters

Aunty JC’s Cats

Yesterday the Paw Pledge team visited both shelters to deliver food and medicine donated by Good Samaritans.  The 1st trip was to the Joo Chiat Aunty’s shophouse.  The place is in a manageable condition for now, except for a few sick cats.  We gave Aunty the medicine and supplements we bought with funds donated by kind souls.

After that, we went to Aunty M’s farm and there were quite a number of sick cats.  We sent 3 critically ill cats to the vet immediately.  Two were so skinny, they were skin and bones.  A third cat had awfully bad breath and has stopped eating.  It appears that the cat has a mouth full of ulcers.  There were blackish stains surrounding the mouth, we don’t know what it is, but the cat is just filthy and smelly.  We decided to send all 3 to the vet rather than watch them suffer.  As for the rest of the cases, it seems the start of flu.  So, we gave Aunty some medicine and see whether it’ll help.  Next week we might pass her more antibiotics.

Here’s a snapshot of our funds for Aunty M.  Hopefully the balance of $1,009.22 is enough for the hospitalization and treatment of all the sick cats.  So far, we’ve only admitted 3 to the hospital.
